Job Description:
The role:Through the use of effective mine engineering
practices, manage and provide long range planning support to the
operations by contributing to the design, development processes and
practices within the Technical Services group. Ensure that all
functions are completed in a safe, timely and professional
manner.
Key tasks and responsibilities: - Coordinate with the strategic
planning functions to ensure long range plans adhere to
LOMobjectives. - Generate mine designs, activity sequences, and
schedules to incorporate long range mineplane. - Review final and
interim dump designs for operational effectiveness and safety. -
Ensure a seamless transition from mid and short-range mine plans. -
Conduct analysis to identify optimal mine plans. - Generate
practical mine designs in compliance with geotechnical and
geological parameters. - Analyze and reconcile actual mine
performance to planned performance. - Responsible for Long Term
Planning (pit optimization, mine scheduling, fleet sizing,
technicalstudies focused on asset optimization, etc.) - Collaborate
with all departments and engineering disciplines to integrate
long-term mineinfrastructure projects into the mine plan. - Analyze
haulage and cycle times with the purpose to collaborate and propose
continuousimprovement initiatives. - Ensures mining is planned and
executed to maximize the recovery of ore and minimizemining
dilution. - Assist with preparation the annual mining budget and
prepare periodic reports on productionactivities, including regular
forecasts of future mining production. - Independently handles
relevant technical duties, including application submittal,
monitoring,and reporting. - Maintain design database, standard for
all design areas. - Develop a sense of continuous improvement and
ensure appropriate training programs are inplace to meet safety and
production requirements. - Comply with all safety requirements and
observe all company policies and procedures. - Performs other mine
engineering duties that may reasonably be required.
The successful candidate will have: - Bachelor's Degree in Mining
Engineering from an accredited University. - 3+ years of mine
planning experience in an open pit environment. - Knowledge of
Vulcan or ability to learn the software. - Must have excellent
computer skills with MS Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook.
- Must be able to manage time effectively and set priorities. -
Ability to interpret and disseminate technical information between
internal and externalstakeholders.
