As a Control Systems & Inspection Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

Supports manufacturing processes to optimize productivity, quality and output to win-the-day Identifying, creating, and optimizing controls and automation solutions through PLCs, HMIs, motion control, VFDs, data historians, and other automation components
Identify and lead process improvement projects for integrated systems, manufacturing, and reporting to improve process safety, quality, service, cost, capacity, and productivity
Specifying, programming, and commissioning of new automated equipment including both traditional controls and software
Working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to develop data automation and analytics for various discrete and continuous processes
Developing and writing system requirements or user specifications to enable robust test vessel design and build or hardware monitoring solutions. Collaborate with product experts to ensure design meets product needs
Supporting vessel trouble shooting, investigation, and analysis to address anomalous product performance. Collaborate with maintenance experts to improve current vessel capability and up time
Updating internal processes, work instructions, and internal systems to align to global operations "best practices" of a medical device manufacturing while meeting business objectives
Characterizing vessel performance and variability, writing and executing validation protocols, and making recommendations using a risk\benefit approach to a cross-functional audience

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

Bachelors Degree or higher in Electrical or Electronic Engineering with a Systems/Control Systems emphasis (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
Three (3) years Industrial Controls experience in a private, public, government or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

Possess a thorough background in Allen-Bradley controls systems and hardware and proficiency in Motion Control Servo's including Kinetix Drives and Servo Motors
Working knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Human Machine Interface (HMI) programming, motion control, and servo & variable frequency drives
Experience with robotics and vision systems Working knowledge of ethernet IP protocols, IP addressing & subnets, AD (Group Policy) credentials for server configuration, MODBUS, familiarity with scripting and automation (VB scripting and SQL)
Experience with test hardware, sensor technology, software, and data generation
Software development experience (Visual Studio (VB, C#, C++), SharePoint, NI Measurement Studio, HTML, Java, LabVIEW)
Experience with Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) Systems Strong emphasis on applied statistical applications (Minitab and Excel) and continuous improvement methodologies
Skills include---collaborative, inquisitive, open minded, growth mindset

Travel: May include up to 10% domestic
