Job Description Job Description Job Summary The Test Technician
at PTG is responsible for executing automotive performance tests,
ensuring that test equipment and sensors are operating correctly,
and troubleshooting both hydraulic and electronic systems. This
hands-on role is essential in maintaining and calibrating our
advanced test systems in a lab environment focused on
high-performance vehicles. The ideal candidate will have a strong
technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and the
ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Key
Responsibilities Test Execution & Equipment Verification: Perform
and document tests on high-performance vehicles and components.
Confirm that test equipment and sensors are accurately calibrated
and function as intended. Operate and monitor our primary test
equipment, including a wind tunnel and a 7-post vehicle dynamics
rig. Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Diagnose and repair issues with
hydraulic and electronic test equipment. Conduct regular preventive
maintenance and calibration of test systems. Utilize diagnostic and
repair tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and soldering
equipment. Data Management & Documentation: Record test results,
maintenance activities, and calibration logs using Windows-based
applications (especially Microsoft Excel). Be able to read and
comprehend technical documentation, including wiring schematics and
technical drawings. Equipment & Software Operation: Operate
computer-controlled testing equipment. Use software tools like
MATLAB for data analysis and process optimization. Learn and
operate proprietary data acquisition software to run
engineer-specific testing requirements. Safety & Compliance: Ensure
compliance with all safety and environmental regulations, including
proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to
established laboratory and automotive safety procedures. Team
Collaboration & Communication: Collaborate with engineering to
share insights and improve testing processes and outcomes.
Understand and fully explain any test exceptions to engineers and
technical support personnel. Attention to Detail & Process
Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and
contribute to initiatives that enhance test efficiency and data
accuracy. Additional Technical Competencies: Quickly adapt to new
testing tools and methodologies, ensuring smooth integration into
existing testing protocols. Collaboration & Continuous Improvement:
Work closely with team members to streamline testing procedures and
improve equipment reliability. Provide feedback on test processes
and contribute to process improvement initiatives. Required
Qualifications Education & Experience: Technical diploma or
equivalent preferred. Entry-level to mid-level experience in a
technical testing or automotive environment. Technical Skills:
Basic understanding of electronics, sensors, and calibrations.
Ability to read and interpret wiring schematics, technical
drawings, and calibration documentation. Familiarity with
diagnostic tools (multimeters, soldering tools, oscilloscopes) and
calibration equipment. Experience with computer-controlled
equipment; hands-on experience is a plus. Basic knowledge of
MATLAB; proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) is
beneficial. Additional Tools & Equipment: Experience with sensor
calibration devices, data acquisition systems, and other relevant
diagnostic instruments is beneficial. Familiarity with wind tunnel
testing and 7-post vehicle dynamics rig operations is a significant
advantage. Physical & Work Environment Requirements Physical
Demands: Ability to lift, push, and pull objects up to 50 lbs.
Capability to stand or sit for extended periods during testing and
troubleshooting activities. Work Environment & Schedule: Hands-on
work in a lab environment focused on automotive performance.
Typical working hours are Monday to Friday, with weekend work being
rare. Flexible hours may be required, with shifts ranging from 6 am
to 7 pm and occasional overtime. Soft Skills Strong problem-solving
abilities and keen attention to detail. Excellent verbal and
written communication skills. Ability to work effectively both
