Key Role Purpose & SituationIn order to align financial institution operations with the Nutmeg business strategy (of transformation away from irrelevant legacy financial institution model and to a modern fintech consumer and community engagement organization, as adopted by the Board of Directors in December 2019), the Director layer plans to install a "Key Role" to provide balance to the Nutmeg FI operations by guiding the collection, storage, protection, analysis and usage of data to strengthen, adapt and further the delivery of value to members, partners, and communities. As the single most powerful force in the modern consumer universe, data is essential to the sustained relevance of the Nutmeg FI. It forms the fabric that stitches together the entire cell from value proposition to member experience, and the breadth and depth its role in the alignment of operations to strategy cannot be overstated.This role will be essential for maintaining organizational balance as opportunities, risks, and other factors emerge and evolve which impact the strategically aligned operations of the Nutmeg cell. This role will be installed as a collaborator with intentional overlap across peer resources to ensure standardized operations and consistently deliver value to membership in alignment to strategy. The role supports Nutmeg's future relevance by directly impacting the institution's ability to continually collect, store, use, and extend data for community engagement and maximum value for Nutmeg and its consumer/community.The role is situated within the 'Balance Layer', which exists to standardize operations to support ongoing and rapid change and to identify needed operational changes to ensure consistent delivery of value to membership. This role will be on-boarded and installed within 30 days, with 80% proficiency targeted by 90 days following installation.Key Role Immediate Critical ResponsibilitiesLead architecture, implementation and operation of centralized data management and analysis to support modern and optimized (data driven, automation focused, and technologically buffeted) business units and the scalable use of technology and information systems .Facilitate delivery of value to membership through implementation of business and technical operational processes which increase quality and/or efficiency, through (but not limited to): Scripting/automationData normalization, transformation, and consolidationSecurity and encryptionHandling of proprietary, partner, or third-party dataProject leadership/sponsorship Scope, manage and deliver development and integration efforts to support key initiatives including targeting & bundling of products & services, enhancing member experience and ensuring data and technology facilitate measurement and management of "Value of Membership."Assist in the development and management of reporting, dashboards and analytics to transform, supplement and blend data from multiple processes and/or platforms into centralized and highly accessible and actionable information.Define critical metrics to align performance and institutional product/service delivery with targeted goals supporting strategic objectives. Evaluate performance against roles, responsibilities, expectations and required competencies. Coach, mentor and develop staff, develop training programs as needed. Provide ongoing performance management to sustain accountability; lead required disciplinary actions.Develop an understanding of the cellular organization structure, the insulation from outer layers through to the membership core, the expectation of horizontal collaboration within the Balance layer and appropriate escalation with the Director layer, and the elimination of traditional, hierarchical silos.Collaborate as part of the 'Balance Layer' to identify operational changes necessary to ensure consistent delivery of value to membership and to standardize operations to support ongoing and rapid change.Foster a culture of member-centric value creation through inclusion and community partnership, based on continuous evolution and the power of data.Responsibilities listed reflect general responsibilities of this position and are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all duties. Other duties may be performed as needed.Key Role Skills/ExperienceProficiency influencing culture, specifically to one that is aware of the need to centralize and safeguard information and develop intentionality to enrich experiences of members, partners and communities.Proficiency designing and implementing strategies and processes predicated on core principles of centralization and control of data within modern, open, and extensible databases and technologies.Proficiency eliciting true business requirements and establishing deliverables which produce actual value.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Management or comparable preferred or equivalent work experience.At least 5 years' experience architecting, developing and management of databases, data transformation and systems integration. Experience in regulated industries preferred.At least 5 years' experience leading a team of technical resources.Experience with finance, accounting, financial services or fintech preferred.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications.Physical Demands:Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds.Requires standing and/or sitting for an extended period of time.Some travel required between various CT retail locations.
