EHS Manager

The EHS Manager plans, directs, and implements Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) programs at Greiner Bio-One to ensure compliance by working to resolve EHS deficiencies and/or issues. This individual contributor will champion EHS continuous improvement towards the goal of achieving world-class performance in a safe work environment.

Responsibility:
Influence and inspire commitment from all personnel to comply with Greiner Bio-One safety standards and maintaining a safe work environment by driving safety awareness, prevention, and training
Facilitate incident investigation and support leadership to review and assess near misses, unsafe acts, or unsafe conditions.
Lead frequent in-person safety inspections and leverage those inspections and documented findings to design and implement corrective actions
Escalate to leadership, any identified compliance issues, safety risks and suggested improvements as they relate to Safety and Environmental Compliance
Maintain OSHA knowledge of local, state, and federal rules and regulations.
Oversee site chemical management plan along with overseeing Safety Data Sheet (SDS) system including PPE, handling, and disposal guidance.
Manage First Responder First Aid/ CPR/ AED compliance and maintain active participation rosters across shifts
Maintenance of AED, first aid kits, spill kits, and eye wash stations
Conduct risk assessments related to jobs performed (Job Hazard & Job Safety Analysis) and new equipment introductions.
Enter Safety Incident Information in Metrics tracking tool in a timely manner.
Maintains relationships with outside consultants, vendors, employment agencies, professional associations, and Federal and State government agencies such as Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the Environmental Protection Agency to ensure staying abreast of any industry changes
Champion the site Safety Committee and act as a resource to others as needed
Act as the Site Emergency Coordinator (training, evacuation planning, emergency response).

Authority, Competences:
Publish and approve Safety documentation for areas of responsibility
Partnership in approval of equipment validation according to safety procedures
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and yearly training schedules for departments regarding all required safety procedures
Influence and work through cross-functional teams without formal authority and drive a safety culture that is world class by increasing employee engagement, accountability, and efficient training programs.

Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree preferable, background preferably in a safety, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Engineering, Business, or other related field. Equivalent experience and qualifications in lieu of a degree may be considered.
2 plus years of increasing responsibilities in EHS and/or environmental programs in manufacturing, production, or service operations as outlined above.
Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with proven proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
Strong communication, teamwork, analysis, high judgment, and customer focus skills.
Able to maintain confidentiality in matters involving employee related matters and concerns

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in Worker's Compensation case management
Proven safety record, site successes attributed to individual impact and demonstrated measurable improvements to the safety program
Experience implementing lean principles and process improvement in an operational environment
EMT certifications
Industrial chemistry experience
Certified Safety Manager

Physical/Other Requirements:
Ability to sit/walk for minimum of 8 hours per day.
Occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs.
Must be able to work weekends and/or alternate shifts as required.
Position may require travel. Must be able to travel from time to time including overnight, as required.
