The primary role is to assist with the government affairs activities in coordination with the Vice President, Corporate Affairs and Associate Director of Corporate Affairs. The goal is to support the success of the Company's Mission and continued operating environment for the company at the local, state, and federal levels.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Track and maintain a comprehensive understanding of, and expertise with, legislation, emerging issues, and industry trends that impact the Company's license to operate
  • Identify and research legislative initiatives or other public policies that impact the Company's Mission and/or employees at the federal, state, and local levels
  • Assist with communication to key stakeholders within the Company that includes key information to make informed decisions relating to the impact of relevant legislative developments
  • Assist VP, Corporate Affairs and Associate Director of Corporate Affairs to develop and enhance key relationships with community leaders and public officials to create a positive reputational and political environment that supports the Company's mission
  • Prepare draft communications to key stakeholders (employees, public officials, etc.) to communicate pertinent
  • Perform other assigned duties and follow verbal and written instructions issued by supervisor or designee related to meeting company goals and objectives.
  • Communicate effectively with your team, supervision and other departments within the organization and function within a team, promoting positive work environment.
  • Regular attendance is required.
  • Assist VP, Corporate Affairs and Associate Director of Corporate Affairs with other projects as requested
    • Completed or Seeking Bachelor's degree in public policy, political science, or related fields
    • Experience in government affairs or public affairs a plus
    • Ability to develop strong, positive relationships with external and internal stakeholders geared toward the Company's Mission
    • Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to form and maintain professional working relationships with a diverse group of individuals
    • Ability to research key public policy and legislative matters and summarize in a concise manner
    • Ability to navigate a multitude of current event resources to maintain an up to date knowledge of current events that may affect the Company, its employees or Mission
    • Proven, high quality written and oral communication skills
    • Ability to organize and manage projects in a fast-paced, rapidly changing, visible, deadline-oriented environment
    • Understands federal, state, and local political issues and is knowledgeable about key players
    • Has experience with federal, state, and local legislation
    • Has excellent and efficient working knowledge of PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Adobe programs
