Summary: Performs duties as delegated by the medical provider which enable the efficient flow of patients and assists in the provision of quality health services. Only tasks can be delegated and cannot be re-delegated by the NAP. Nursing judgment and decision making are not delegated tasks.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesInterface between clinical staff, Community Services, providers and insurance companies on behalf of the patients. Schedule, Reschedule appointments as needed. Follow up on patient refills and with the pharmacy. Request medical records, record vitals for patients. Verify medications and assist in patient education to ensure compliance.Other DutiesEmployee will be expected to operate as a medical assistant throughout the different clinical departments. The departments required to float to will include : patient assistance, referral, all suites and sites, lab and order in house labs. Familiarize with each and every department and complete site- specifics competencies. Gain understanding of the general referral policy and accurately receive, process, and document patient referrals. Some referrals processed on the same day.Distinguish between visit types and learn basic day to day work flow and schedule patient appointments with all suites.QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactory. On the job skills training will be provided which will assure competency. Prior experience working in an ambulatory health care setting such as an emergency room or an outpatient clinic is preferred.Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.Certificates and Licenses CPR certification requiredKnowledge,Skills AbilitiesBasic clinical knowledge to include preparing patients for provider visits and understanding routine protocols is required. Ability to develop and maintain personable yet professional relationship with patients and staff is required. Desktop, PC, word processing software, scales, measuring board, copier, fax, and telephone. Equipment to be used includes laboratory equipment, EKG machine, audiometer and autoclaveTravel RequirementsOccasionally you might be instructed to travel away from your primary work site to work at another site.
