The South Carolina Department of Corrections (SCDC) is opening a med surg unit at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) at the Chester facility. The correctional unit will have 36 beds. The nurse-to-patient ratio is intended to be 1:6. Nurses will have the opportunity to float between this unit and the standard med surg unit at the hospital. While working on the correctional unit, nurses will receive a $5.00/hour bonus in addition to other shift differentials and premiums. *WHY MUSC: *
