Job Title: RN - MedSurg/Tele Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12hr Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 18 months of PCU experience License: RN Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Essential nursing functions, teamwork, communication skills Experience with trach care, cardiac gtt, cardiac rhythm interpretation Experience with chest tubes, blood products, wound care/dressing changes Management of central lines Description: Seeking an RN for MedSurg/Tele. Facility features 58 licensed beds with no trauma designation. Traveler’s permanent address must be located 50 miles outside of the home unit. Work on a progressive care unit with 33 beds. Patient types include stroke, pneumonia, cellulitis, failure to thrive, altered mental status, chest pain, atrial fibrillation, and COPD. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:5 to 1:6. CNA support is available for ADLs, vital signs, and telemetry monitoring. Charge nurse will primarily work without a patient assignment. Additional support includes a resource nurse and respiratory therapy available 24/7. Emergency department and hospitalist services are also available 24/7. Technology utilized includes EMR, IV pumps, and telemetry monitors with specific unit equipment for patient safety and positioning. Travelers may be required to float to different facilities within the region as needed. Floating mid-shift will allow for paid travel time between facilities. A weekend rotation is expected every other week with no call requirements. Holiday expectations involve working 75% of holidays. Travelers can request up to 6 days off, excluding holidays. Schedule cycles are every 6 weeks. Preferred scrub color is navy blue. Unit culture emphasizes teamwork and a focus on the patient experience.
