Job Title: RN - Neonatal ICU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 1 year required License: RN License Certifications: BLS, NRP Must-Have: Strong NRP skills Travelers must be comfortable stabilizing babies. Description: RN position in the Neonatal ICU. Unit consists of 7 beds catering to patients aged 32 weeks and above. The unit primarily receives infants needing a higher level of care. Common diagnoses include grower and feeders. Patient ratios typically range from 1:2 and occasionally can reach 1:3 depending on staffing. Core staff will attend high-risk deliveries, but prior experience catching babies is not required for travelers. Support within the department includes a CNA, receptionist, unit secretary duties, charge nurse, case manager, respiratory therapists, and hospitalist available 24/7. There is access to neonatologists who are available 24/7, though not always on-site. Lactation consultants and telemedicine options for virtual consultations are available. Technology and equipment used include EMR, IV pumps, medication dispensing systems, and monitoring systems. Core staff may cross-train to other units; however, floating for travelers is not required. Scheduling may include a weekend rotation depending on unit needs, while no on-call shifts are required for travelers. Travelers are welcome to volunteer for holiday shifts if desired. Requests for time off can be approved up to 6 days, excluding holidays, and any inability to meet contracted hours must be added to the end of the contract. Shifts are scheduled in a cycle every 6 weeks. Surgical scrubs are provided by the facility.
