Job Description Job Description Registered Nurse - Lactation Consultant, PRN Overview: The role of a Registered Nurse - Lactation Consultant, PRN, involves providing lactation education and support to patients in antepartum, postpartum, nursery, and outpatient settings. This position requires the development and assessment of lactation programs and mandates an RN license, lactation certification, and experience in maternal-child health. Position Details: Lactation Consultant – RN (LDRP) Location: Our facility - 10010 Kennerly Rd, Saint Louis, MO 63128 Status: PRN (As Needed) Role Summary This position is responsible for assessing, identifying problems, and providing solutions related to breastfeeding education for patients and staff. The Lactation Consultant will develop, implement, and evaluate the lactation education program, with a particular emphasis on antepartum, postpartum, nursery, and outpatient clients. Qualifications Education: A Bachelor’s degree is required, along with specialized training or completion of a relevant internship. Licensure: A current RN license or RN Temporary Permit in the State of Missouri is mandatory. Experience: A minimum of 2–3 years of professional experience is required. Certifications: Lactation education certification is essential. Preferred Qualifications Education: An advanced degree or additional relevant coursework is preferred. Licensure: Additional or multi-state licensure is preferred. Experience: Previous experience in lactation support or a related specialty is preferred. Certifications: Additional certifications in maternal-child health or lactation consulting are preferred. Other: Strong communication skills, the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team, and a commitment to patient-centered care are essential. Physical Requirements: Frequent standing and walking throughout the shift. Significant bending, stooping, and assisting with patient lifting/turning.
