Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: PCU - Progressive Care Unit - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 04/06/2026 - Duration: 13 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, nights - Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview - Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs - Hours: 36 hrs/wk - Start Date: Apr 6, 2026 - Length: 13 weeks - Openings: 1 Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU/Telemetry) position requiring at least 18 months of PCU experience, with night shift hours and a multi-facility float requirement across the Region 3 network. Details - 58-bed community hospital with no trauma designation - 33-bed Progressive Care Unit (PCU/Telemetry) - Patient population includes stroke R/O, pneumonia, cellulitis, failure to thrive (FTT), altered mental status (AMS), chest pain R/O, atrial fibrillation, and COPD - RN-to-patient ratio of 1:5–1:6 - 12-hour night shifts, 1900–0700, 36 hours per week - Every other weekend rotation required - No on-call or call-back requirements - Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mountain, Lincoln, and Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) per facility needs and within scope of practice — candidates unwilling to float to all listed facilities should not apply - EMR: Epic - IV pumps: Alaris; medication dispensing: Omnicell; telemetry monitors: Philips - Unit is supported by CNAs, charge nurses (typically without patient assignment), phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, respiratory therapy (24/7), hospitalist coverage (24/7, in-person and virtual), and central telemetry monitoring Requirements - Active NC or compact RN license required - Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) - Minimum 18 months of PCU experience required, with most recent experience within the last year - Experience required: tracheostomy care, cardiac drip management, cardiac rhythm interpretation, chest tube management, blood product administration, wound care/dressing changes, and central line management - Candidate's permanent address must be located at least 50 miles from the home unit — local candidates are not accepted - Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration - Minimum of 1 professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN Additional Information - Provide progressive cardiac and telemetry nursing care to a diverse medical patient population - Telemetry is monitored both at the nurses' station and in a central monitoring bunker - Close-knit unit culture with emphasis on teamwork and patient experience - Orientation includes facility new employee orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation - Scheduling is done in 6-week cycles; RTO of up to 6 days may be approved, excluding holidays — any missed contracted hours must be made up at the end of the contract - Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays - Scrub color: Navy Blue - Free parking available on-site - Former permanent employees of any AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being considered - First-time travelers are welcome to apply American Traveler Job ID P-682930.
