SUMMARY: Assumes primary responsibility for implementation of Piedmont Medical Center's work injury management plan and ensures appropriate management of all aspects of worker s compensation claims. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Minimum Licensure and Certification: Bachelor s degree in Nursing, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Therapy or related healthcare degree Minimum Experience/Additional Certification: At least 2 years of experience in Occupational Health/Workers Compensation. Must be able to provide initial triage/treatment of work place injuries. Strong communication skills combined with excellent computer skills. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following. All duties and responsibilities must be performed within the scope of practice and in accordance to organizational and unit policies, procedures. Other duties may be assigned. Summary: -Provides initial triage/treatment of work place injuries. -Prepares monthly progress reports. -Leads the Workers Compensation Committee to review progress and metrics and identify needs for further actions and educates Leadership and staff as appropriate. -Utilizes Tenet systems to monitor frequency and severity rates and implements internal systems to monitor and trend incident data and identify high-risk activities. -Adherence to all core measure initiatives, patient safety goals, and NQF Safe Practices -Assumes primary responsibility for the implementation and coordination of Piedmont's Work Injury Management system (WIMS) plan and ensures appropriate management of all Workers Compensation claims. -Works with the appropriate caregivers and/or coordinates programs to ensure work injury triage/referral is provided consistently and appropriately at all times. -Works closely with all injured employees, Management, Human Resources, treating physicians and third party administrators to facilitate and coordinate transitional duty and early return to work program. -Coordinates all work-related disabilities with any applicable civil statutes including FMLA and ADA. -Complies with all applicable statutes, rules and regulations, policies and procedures and the Tenet Ethics Program. -Ensures compliance with OSHA recordkeeping, any CDC reporting and OSHA safety standards. -Creates and publishes WIMS trends and frequency rates reports by targeted department or injury causation -Works with the Workers Compensation Committee to establish the Work Injury Management System plan to reduce the frequency and severity of work related injuries. -Reviews all injuries to determine common causations and presents findings and recommendations to reduce or eliminate on the job injuries to the Workers Compensation Committee. -Consults with appropriate Director s/Managers and A-Team members who are responsible for areas with problematic injury/incident rates, and assists in developing needed action plans. -Facilitates and drives PMC's injury prevention programs. Works with Director s/Managers and Educators to ensure staff receive proper training on applicable equipment. -Monitors TSC based systems providing WC indicators; Implements internal systems to collect analyze and report trends of incidents and high-risk activities. -Monitors injury reports for lack of or improper use of equipment and determines if injuries were preventable if proper equipment was used. -Works with appropriate Director/Manager and Human Resources to determine if employee should be counseled/disciplined as a result of failure to use equipment, or violation of procedures regarding the use or non-use of equipment. -Champion Wellness Program to include overseeing the wellness committee, spearheading departmental efforts to ensure a healthy work environment and healthy work practices for employees, serves as a liaison between Employee Health and personnel at PMC to promote and communicate the wellness benefit programs and coordinate the implementation of wellness activities at the work location. In collaboration with the Employee Health Nurse requests workplace analysis and ergonomic assessments to employees when indicated.
