An employer is seeking a Portfolio Manager to work for an
Equipment Rental company in Fort Mill, SC. The Technology Portfolio
Manager is responsible for the oversight and administration of the
technology project portfolio. This includes working with business
unit leads, technical solution owners and product owners to oversee
project intake and prioritization; perform project resource
planning; continuously monitor and report on project status;
participate in the change management process; and play an integral
role in the annual budget process. This role will be responsible
for managing one or more Portfolio Analysts. In addition, will work
closely with Project Managers, Business Analysts and Quality
Assurance professionals to develop and implement best practices,
processes, and toolsets for effective portfolio/project management.
This role will also have primary responsibility to help educate
team on best practices and effective project execution.
Additional Responsibilities Include:
Manage the project portfolio covering a wide range of enterprise
initiatives from intake to delivery using agile/waterfall
Work with the leadership team, directors and project business
sponsors to provide a comprehensive overview of capital and
operational projects (overview includes the anticipated overall
budget for each initiative in the portfolio).
Work collaboratively with the Technology Portfolio Group practice
leaders including project management, business analysis,
and quality assurance.
Perform project scheduling, resource planning, leveling and
management (forecast impacts on staffing where project scope
may have changed) as well as effective use of metrics, and
Manage all aspects of change control and risk oversight at the
Coordination of stakeholder and sponsor communications.
Track and report project executive statuses on a timely basis to
technology leadership, stakeholders and sponsors.
Facilitate and oversee the establishment of a project review
council to manage the processes of reviewing new proposals and
introducing new initiatives into the portfolio.
Support the enterprise architecture committee as needed and assist
in facilitating the oversight and governance.
Manage the annual capital budget process through inception to final
approval by senior leadership.
Develop an overall understanding of each initiative in the
portfolio in order to understand the potential customer impact and
service requirements generated by each initiative in the
Ensure quality assurance is conducted and that initiatives are
being well managed and adhering to appropriate standards and
Recalibrate the portfolio as necessary when the demands of the
business dictate a change in delivery or scope of work.
PMP or PfMP certifications preferred
Experience in the rental or retail industries preferred
Bachelors degree in Information Technology or equivalent work
experience within IT field
8-10 years of portfolio, program and/or project management
experience in large, full scale implementations, with an emphasis
on enterprise information systems across multiple functions
Experience managing portfolio of projects of $10M+
Diverse industry experience (not just the banks), and exposure to
both App Dev and Infrastructure portfolios
Experience with project management tools (Microsoft Project,
Service Now ITBM, or equivalent enterprise PPM software)
Experience developing and managing complex project plans,
timelines, budgets and critical paths
Experience with project management process, including SDLC -
Waterfall and Agile methodology
Understanding of business analysis, requirements definition, and
business case production
Skilled at creating and delivering executive level
Strong verbal and written communication, ability to build
relationships across multiple teams
