Research & Development Chemist Monroe, NCPosition:Research & Development ChemistPlacement:12-month Contract-To-Hire Location:Monroe, NCSchedule:Monday - FridayShift:1stPay: $53,000+ Pay based upon experience.Position Summary: With more than 75 years of industry experience, our Client is a market leader in the chemicals sector.While much of our experience and history is in the synthetic fibers area, we also have developed expertise in other surface modification technologies.Their mission is to be the global leader in surface modification technologies by providing our customers with innovative products and services that are consistently superior in technology, quality, performance, and value.Test product finishes for the customer.Interfaces internally and externally (customer) to ensure product integrity is maintained.Be open to the possibility of travel to meet with Clients.The position is for a Formulation Chemist.They will primarily be blending lubricants to achieve certain friction or end use characteristics.Test the blends to ensure they meet customer criteria.Testing could includeoFrictionoStatic DissipationoSpreading (FTA Contact Angle, Kruss Bubble Tensiometer)oheat stability (smoke point, Varnish test, Thermogravimetric Analysis), oroMicroscopy.Our Client formulates surface modification technologies:oFriction modifiersoHydrophilic/Hydrophobic surface modifications (Diapers, Wipes, Athletic apparel)oSoftenersoAntimicrobials.Looking for capable chemist with good written and verbal communication skills who fits the companys culture.Requirements & Qualifications:Master of Science in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Textile Chemistry.oBachelor of Science in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Textile Chemistry with 2+ years of relevant industry experience can be considered for an R&D Technician with the opportunity to grow into a Chemist role.Needs to have strong working knowledge of Organic Chemistry.Candidate must be Organized, Strong technical ability with chemical concepts, and be a team player.Previous R&D lab experience preferred.Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers and regulatory agencies. Ability to effectively present information to management.Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.Computer Competencies and level of fluency:oMicrosoft OutlookIntermediateoMicrosoft WordIntermediateoMicrosoft ExcelAdvancedoMicrosoft AccessBasicoMicrosoft PowerPointBasicResponsibilities:Testing many formulations at the lab bench.Tests finishes to confirm performance to product specifications. Document as required.Supports the company's interaction with customers as finish requirements are determined.Create reports for internal and external customers.Attends customer evaluations in a supporting role for the team.Testing/evaluating customer products.Monitor and approve new production batches under supervision.Performs other duties as assigned.
