SUMMARY: The Conditioning Associate will perform a variety of tasks
in the conditioning department and acquire skills on the shop floor
through cross training and job rotations. Associate will perform
the summarized jobs listed below. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Material handling. Auto
grinderEssential tasks:
Operate automatic grinders to finish
grind, spot s grind, and grind billet to desired shape and
dimensional tolerances for superalloy and titanium billet in a
variety of shapes and configurations.Work from mill orders and
procedures to obtain specifications such as dimensions, tolerances,
and other instructions to grind material to meet customer
specifications.Maintain logs and records covering starting weights
and finish weights of material ground.Charge worn grinding wheels
as necessary or for various grits and/or grades of alloy Band saw
operatorEssential tasks:
Operate band saw to cut variety of
materials following established methods and proceduresOperate
grinder to grind a variety of material to meet requirements of
proceduresWork from mill orders and procedures to cut billets,
ingots, bars, shapes and other material to specified lengths,
weights, and/or cut material sample from products for metallurgical
useStamp or mark and identify all pieces of material following
established procedures and practices Cut-off saw operatorEssential
tasks:
Operate abrasive cut-off saws to cut
a variety of high temperature alloy billets, bars, ingots and other
shapes as directed to proper length and weight.Work from mill
orders, schedules, sample requests, verbal instructions, and other
data to make calculations per established methods and mark billets,
bars and other shape material for cutting to specified size, length
and weight.Change abrasive discs, maintain adequate coolant supply,
remove grindings, perform and assist in maintenance, move materials
to designated locations. Identify all scrap material and segregate
by alloy for movement to and storage in the proper locations. Final
inspectorEssential tasks:
Perform a variety of non-destructive
testing and inspection duties on high temperature alloys following
established methods and procedures. Maintain all required records
and reports.Prepare inspection reports and documents in prescribed
form and detail. Identify alloy to insure ordered specifications.
Mark and identify defective items following accepted practices.
Check completed items for compliance with pertinent dimensional,
hardness, material coding and identification, general hardness and
other specifications. Release accepted materials for packing.
Inspect/spot grindEssential tasks:
Inspect material, mark defects and
flaws for grinding and remove defects with hand grinder if
required. Weigh, band, mark, stamp, tag and identify material after
re-grinding. Check dimensions and surface quality to meet customers
requirements. Ensure compliance with established grinding
techniques. Detect and report defective material and improper
operations and unusual condition to proper supervision. Peeler
operatorEssential tasks:
Operate the peeler to peel billets
and bars to the described dimensional tolerances for superalloy,
steel and titanium productsControl and adjust tools, through
speeds, and other machine parameters to maintain specified
precision tolerances and surface finish.Maintain continuous
surveillance of material as it exits the peeler to detect defects,
determine the cause, and correct by making machine
adjustmentsMaintain various operating supplies such as: carbide
inserts, bushings, etc. Necessary for the daily operations of the
machine PolisherEssential tasks:
Operate polisher to polish a variety
of high temperature alloy billets and bars to obtain proper surface
finish for ultrasonic inspection or for shipment to customersWork
form mill orders instructions, schedules, verbal instructions, and
other data to polish billets and bars per established methodsLoad
and secure proper material on the polisher tableChange polishing
belts, remove swarf, perform and assist in maintenance, and move
material to designated locations upon completion of the polish
operationDetect and report defective material and improper
equipment operations to supervisionMaintain work area in a clean
and orderly conditionFollow all safety regulations Shot blast/spot
grinder
Essential tasks: Operate the shot
blast machine to clean a variety of materials following established
procedures. Work from mill orders to clean billets, bars, ingots,
and other shapes of material. Check material to be blasted to
ensure heat number, alloy and size on mill traveler, tag and billet
ends are the same.Maintain continuous surveillance of material as
it exits shot blaster to determine proper cleaning. Inspect
material, mark defects and flaws for re-grading and removal; remove
defects with hard grinder if required. Weigh, band, mark, stamp,
tag and identify material after regrinding. Ensure compliance with
established grinding techniques. NON-ESSENTIAL TASKS:
Follow all safety rules and
procedures.Perform any other duties as required or directed by
management. REQUIREMENTS:
High School diploma or
GED.Manufacturing experience preferred. We thrive when the
